Beach Vacation Essentials: Skin Care

I love the beach, but I love my skin more and I just don't want to look like a dry leather bag when I'm older... So, skin care is super important to me. It should be important to everyone! Anyways, I've been seeing so many people go on vacation and since spring break is just around the corner, I've decided to round up my essentials for a beach vacation.

1. Body Moisturizer

You're going to need a lot of moisturizer. Salt water and the sun dry it out and the more moisturized your skin is the better it's going to feel. And no, moisturizer with SPF is not enough! I like to bring a moisturizer that's gentle on the skin. Anything soothing will be great on the skin. I really like Cake Beauty's Heavy Cream Travel Body Balm.

2. Sunscreen

Obviously you're going to need a lot of sunscreen. Like a lot!!!!!! I personally have gone through two bottles of sunscreen on vacation. Apply 20 minutes before going outside, apply every two hours or after swimming. That shit is not waterproof. I like SPF 60 or 50, but my shoulders burn really badly and trust me, a sun burn or sun stroke is not what you want on vacation.

3. A beach hat

I spent three weeks looking for a hat to protect my head and ears. Head burns hurt and then they flake and that's just gross. I am really loving the sun hats that Aerie has right now. They are so cute!

4. Moisturizing Sheet Masks

Get ready for the burning sensation. I did a sheet mask on day four of a beach vacation and I thought I was going to cry. It was totally worth it. Get yourself some sheet masks that are soaked in moisturizing essence and go to town.

5. A beach cover

Because your shoulders will thank you when you're walking to the beach.

6. A good face skin care routine

Not sure why you would wear makeup on a vacation where you know no one, but be my guest. However, I rather have a great skin care routine that leaves my skin glowing. Hence why I love anything with vitamin C to help with pigmentation. What am I using right now? Truth Serum by Olehenriksen, GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream by Origins, GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer by Origins, and Clear Face sunscreen from Neutrogena.

7. Good hair care

Yup, the sun will dry out your hair, so make sure you bring a long a good leave in conditioner or even a hair mask. You want to come back from vacation looking fresh, not dry.

8. Sunglasses

Sun glasses protect your eyes, which are important! Enough said.

9. Face cleanser

The beach is great, but after a day of sunscreen and sand, my face needs to be washed. I really like the Soy Face Cleanser from Fresh, it's so so gentle and doesn't leave your face feeling tight.

10. A light exfoliator

So I wouldn't go full exfoliation on vacation because your skin is pretty raw already, but a little exfoliation and a moisturizer right after should leave your skin feeling great and glowing. I'm really into coffee exfoliators right now. I love the Beechwood Wildness Natural Wellness Bare Shower Balm and the Secret Garden Botanical Coffee Scrub.

ALSO IT'S LOCAL AND VEGAN AND CRUELTY FREE. Just saying.

Have a great holiday and thanks for reading,

Samantha
