Road Travels: Halifax

Hello everyone!
This past weekend, I went to Halifax for a very quick 24-hours and I thought it would be fun to take you along for the ride. We ate a lot and we did the local thing... kind of.
Saturday: 8:30 a.m. - Left Fredericton. I don't think I need to tell anyone how boring the ride from Fredericton to Moncton is.
10 a.m. - Salisbury Big Stop Break!
Noon - We were like an hour away from Halifax (I think) and we need lunch. So where did we end up? The town of Stewiacke. Halfway between the Equator and the North Pole! Try to contain your excitement.

1:45 p.m. - Finally arrived to Halifax! There was a car accident so we waited in traffic for a while.
We stayed a friends house, but if you ever want to spend one night in Halifax, might I recommend the Lord Nelson Hotel? It's gorgeous and really has that old hotel charm.

2:30 p.m. - We waste no time getting to the Halifax Shopping Centre. I did not buy anything because I didn't need to and I am trying to save my money. Then we went to Wal-Mart because I had a gut feeling my Halloween costume wasn't going to fit. I got some black tights and a witches hat.
4 p.m. - Nap time!
5:30 p.m. - We decided to go for supper at Your Fathers Moustache. I've never been, but it was really delicious. I got the Southwest burger with sweet potato fries and chipotle mayo. The service was great and although it was loud, it was a pub so that's expected.

7 p.m. - We started getting ready to go out, which side note: we never ended up really going out because of the lines. Oh well! Again, as I called it, my costume didn't workout. I was supposed to be Zenon Girl of the 21st Century, but I didn't check if the unitard would fit and of course, my torso was just too long and it didn't fit in in the shoulders. I have learnt however to always have a backup for this occasion, so that's why I decided on the witch costume.

11:30 p.m. We tried getting into Cheers. The line was long, they were at capacity and not letting anyone in. Not a huge problem for me, since I was exhausted and I really didn't want to go in.
11:50 p.m. Went back to the apartment and ordered pizza from Alexandra's Pizza. We got a plain cheese pizza and garlic fingers and no, I don't have a picture, but it was so delicious! We also watched Sex in the City the Movie because it's a great movie.
Sunday:
11 a.m. - Brunch at the Stubborn Goat!

I got chicken and waffles. It was so good! So rich, but so good. Our friend got something that we have no idea what it was, but look at how delicious it looks!

The service was so nice and although this was supper filling, I didn't eat for like the rest of the day.
11:45 a.m. - Visit Theodore the Tugboat! Is it really a trip if you don't visit a childhood classic?!

We finished up our little tour of Halifax by visiting Dalhousie University a little bit. I had already seen the campus, but it never ceases to amaze me.
1 p.m. - Time to leave! We said our goodbyes and we drove straight home with a stop for gas halfway. I really thought we would be able to do it with one tank of gas, but we needed a little bit more.
5:30 p.m. - What a trip! We were so exhausted when we got home. I really enjoyed my trip though!
Obviously I could have made this trip a lot healthier, but since I eat clean 90% of the time, I wasn't too concerned about over eating and being under nourished for one 24-hour period. I had a lot of fun and now I am paying for it, but that's okay. It was a great trip.
How did you spend your weekend?
Thanks for reading,
Samantha
